Saturday Night Live is about to give greater meaning to the word “live!”

Variety has learned that beginning on April 15, the show will air live simultaneously in all time zones across the country for the very first time. The change will be in effect for the remaining four episodes of this season.

NBC‘s entertainment chair, Bob Greenblatt said, “‘SNL’ — enjoying its most popular season in two decades — is part of the national conversation, and we thought it would be a great idea to broadcast to the west and mountain time zones live at the same time it’s being seen in the east and central time zones. That way, everyone is in on the joke at the same time.”

Jimmy Fallon will host the first of the live episodes, followed by Chris Pine on May 6, Melissa McCarthy on May 13, and Dwayne Johnson for the May 20 season finale. As we told you yesterday, Saturday Night Live is enjoying it’s highest ratings in 24 years, largely thanks to the recent presidential election, and NBC will also run four 30 minute “Weekend Update” shows this summer.

We can’t wait!
