In the aftermath of the election, Saturday Night Live‘s ratings have hit the roof. The hilarious political impressions of Alec Baldwin, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy have helped pave the path to the show’s most-watched season in 24 years. In an additional effort to give the people what they want, NBC has decided a little primetime action was needed.

According to Variety, the network will air four 30-minute broadcasts of “Weekend Update” in August. The two “faux news” anchors, Colin Jost and Michael Che, will be featured, with some guest appearances by other cast members. This is not the first time “Weekend Update” members have had additional projects. Colin and Michael appeared on MSNBC last summer offering commentary on the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, while Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers had a similar 3-episode primetime run in the summer 2008 just prior to elections, with another 2 episodes in 2012.

The extra fun will begin on August 10 at 9/8 C.
