Since confirming he will be quitting acting, friends of renowned thespian Daniel Day-Lewis have said the actor had been conceiving this plan for some time, and was looking for the right movie to let him go out on top.

Apparently, he’s found that film in a top-secret movie directed by Thomas Anderson and set in the fashion world of 1950s London, which apparently has a December 25 release date.

In the 1990s, Daniel stopped acting for five years to work as a cobbler in a fancy Italian shoe factory. According to a source, the actor did so much research to play a dressmaker in his latest film that he apparently fell in love with the craft and decided to take it on full time.

That’s right, Daniel Day-Lewis is quitting acting to become a dressmaker. According to Page Six, Daniel’s next occupation could be working as a haute couture dressmaker — from the red carpet to the sewing machine!

“He’s so method, it takes him three years to prepare for a role,” a source said to Page Six. “He was telling friends he really wanted to go out with a bang.
