Laurence Fishburne Will Not Be In ‘The Matrix 4’

The Matrix star Laurence Fishburne will not be returning in the latest sequel because he was not “invited.”

The actor confirmed he will not reprise the role for director Lana Wachowski’s renowned franchise.

“I have not been invited,” he told New York magazine in a new interview. “Maybe that will make me write another play. I wish them well. I hope it’s great.”

Some fans are saying that he wasn’t asked back because of The Matrix Online, a video game that continued the saga of the movies and saw Morpheus (Laurence’s character) dying from gunshot wounds.

Laurence added that the role “is probably the role that I’ll be best remembered for, which is great; it’s not the only thing I’ll be remembered for, which is better.”

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their roles of Neo and Trinity in The Matrix 4, which will also feature Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

It is hard to imagine the film without Morpheus, but you know we’re still watching!
