James Cameron And Wife File Petition to be Guardians of Their Daughter’s Friend
James Cameron and wife Suzy Amis Cameron are opening up their home and family to their daughter’s friends.
According to People, the couple filed a petition to become temporary guardians of a 16-year-old girl who is one of their three daughters’ “dear friends.”
The teenage girl lived with her biological parents in New York until September 2019, after which she moved in with the Camerons, they claim in their petition, according to People.
The girl’s parents began to experience “health challenges and financial hardships approximately one and a half years ago rendering them increasingly unable to care” for her.
The parents have separated and are currently homeless while living apart in two different states. Still, through it all, the Camerons’ daughter and her friend “maintained a close friendship, connecting online daily and even visiting each other in their respective hometowns.”
James and Suzy say the teenager is now “thriving” under their care and that “she wishes to continue to be cared for” by the couple with the permission of her parents and grandparents.
