Idris Elba’s Wife Sabrina Tested Positive for COVID-19
As we previously reported, Idris Elba has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Now his wife Sabrina has, too.
“I’ve been tested — actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive,” Sabrina told Oprah Winfrey on Apple TV’s Oprah Talks yesterday from their quarantine in New Mexico.
She added that she was “not surprised” given that Idris was also positive.
“I wanted to be with him. That’s the instinct of a wife. You want to go and take care. I could have made a decision to maybe put myself in a separate room or stay away and I’m sure that people are making those tough decisions. But I made the decision to want to be with him … and still touch him,” she said, chuckling as she nudged his shoulder.
Idris previously hinted that he may have contracted the virus the day he was at an event with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, who also tested positive.
“If I’d caught it, she’d certainly caught it as well,” he said, explaining that it’s still not clear if he caught it from Justin’s wife, or if she caught it from him.
In the interview, Oprah called the pandemic “a moment for our humanity to either rise or not.”
