NBC Staffer Dies of Coronavirus Complications

As we previously reported, an NBC staffer had contracted the coronavirus, which prompted many anchors on the Today show to call in from their selective homes.

Now, we’re sad to report that the staffer has died.

In a memo to the company, NBC Chairman Andy Lack told the NBC staff that “longtime member of our NBC News family” Larry Edgeworth died after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Larry, an audio technician for the network, had “suffered from other health issues that led him to succumb to the illness,” and was a beloved member of the team.

“Many of you were fortunate enough to work with Larry over the years, so you know that he was the guy you wanted by your side no matter where you were,” the memo stated. “Stacy Brady says he was known as the ‘gentle giant who would give you the shirt off his back.’”

What’s more, CBS News, ABC, CNN, Condé Nast, Vox Media, and the New York Times have all reported cases among their staff.

Our hearts go out to his family. Stay safe, y’all. Remember to be there for each other.
