Met Gala 2020 Canceled Due to Coronavirus

It’s been announced that the Met Gala will not be taking place this year, due to the coronavirus.

Anna Wintour announced the news today at Vogue, stating that in light of the pandemic, the gala’s “About Time”-themed exhibit will be postponed indefinitely.

“Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, ‘About Time,’ and the opening night gala, will be postponed to a later date,” said Anna, who has served as the chairwoman of the event since 1995.

“In the meantime, we will give you a preview of this extraordinary exhibition in our forthcoming May issue,” she added.

The event was scheduled to take place on May 4, and was to be hosted by Meryl Streep, Emma Stone and Lin-Manuel Miranda, with Louis Vuitton underwriting the gala.

A sad day in fashion, indeed.
