Chris Rock and Megalyn Echikunwoke Have Broken Up
Chris Rock and Megalyn Echikunwoke have split after four years of dating.
According to Page Six, the split happened a few months ago. One source told the outlet that Chris wasn’t “ready to settle down” again after his painful divorce from his wife of 18 years, Malaak Compton-Rock, which was finalized in 2016.
“Getting divorced, you have to f–king start over,” he told Rolling Stone in 2016. “You get to reset. It’s not a breakdown, but something in your life broke down.”
The divorce took two years to finalize, and he also had to go to family court to seek joint custody of his two daughters, Zahra and Lola.
“I had to pay for a lawyer to divorce me, ” he said in a comedy special, according to Page Six. “That’s like hiring a hitman to kill you.”
“I had to go through a custody fight for my kids. Just to see my kids, man, he said. “You don’t want to be a man in family court. You don’t want to be a black man in any court.”
Well, at least he’s ending things now before walking down the aisle again when he doesn’t want to.
