Janelle Monáe is Recovering from Mercury Poisoning After Living a Pescatarian Diet

Janelle Monáe is not feeling well after suffering from mercury poisoning.

The singer revealed the news during a recent interview with The Cut, admitting that she “started feeling my mortality” when fell ill after eating a pescatarian diet.

She did not disclose any other details about the specifics.

However, as People magazine pointed out, the Center for Disease Control reports that large amounts of methylmercury (organic mercury largely linked to eating seafood, but mainly fish) eaten over weeks to months can cause damage to the nervous system.

Furthermore, the incident had Janelle feeling incredibly nostalgic given that she wants to start a family soon.

When asked what scares her, the singer said to The Cut, “That I won’t have a family within the time frame that I want to have a family. I want to have children, but I don’t want to miss that time because I was so focused on my career and because I didn’t plan accordingly.”

We love you, Janelle, and hope you’re feeling better soon. Sometimes these things happen for a reason, and perhaps this time life is telling you to slow down.
