Whoopi Goldberg Pulls Out of Her Rising Cannabis Brand

We’re sad to report that the cannabis venture Whoopi Goldberg and her business partner Maya Elisabeth were creating, Whoopi and Maya, is no more.

After years of work, Whoopi & Maya decided to drop the plan because of a supposed rift between the pair.

Whoopi launched the medical marijuana line in 2016 with Maya, who has won 11 High Times Cannabis Cup awards and is behind the successful Om Edibles.

“It is with deep regret and sadness I am announcing that I have withdrawn as a board member, manager and member of Whoopi & Maya,” Whoopi told Page Six. “I am very proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to moving ahead with other projects in the market.”

Maya also said in a statement: “This was a truly special opportunity that I will be forever grateful for. We got to help a lot of women with our products and hopefully, someday we can make them accessible again! No regrets whatsoever, only gratitude and forward momentum. I wish everybody in the partnership only the best.”

Board member and High Times veteran Rick Cusick added to Page Six, “In the last few months, Whoopi and Maya wanted a divorce, and the board had worked very hard to try and come up with some proposals … but we couldn’t get both principals to agree.”

Rick elaborated saying that the board thought they had found a “win-win” solution to “preserve the company,” but that Whoopi sent an email last week saying she was stepping down.

Still, “We’re very proud of what we did,” Rick said. “Whoopi was brave when she came in” to the cannabis space before a raft of celebs followed.

We’re sad to see this collab come to an end, but let’s face it, Whoopi isn’t leaving the cannabis industry for very long.
