Demi Lovato Opens Up About Coming Out to Her Parents as Bisexual

Demi Lovato got candid about what it was like coming out to her parents.

During an interview with Andy Cohen on his podcast, Radio Andy, she said that she only ended up telling them about her sexuality when things were getting serious between her and another girl.

“I’m still figuring [my sexuality] out,” she said. “I didn’t officially tell my parents that I saw myself ending up possibly with a woman until 2017. It was actually emotional, but really beautiful. After everything was done, I was like shaking and crying. I just felt overwhelmed. I have such incredible parents. They were so supportive.”

One parent, however, was not surprised by the news.

“My dad was like, ‘Yeah, obviously,'” she said. “He said like, “Hello, ‘Cool for the Summer.'” But my mom was the one that I was super nervous about,” she revealed. “But she was like, ‘I just want you to be happy.’ And that was so beautiful and amazing. I’m so grateful.”

“I don’t know what my future looks like,” she added. “I don’t know if I’m gonna have kids this year or in 10 years. I don’t know if I’m gonna do it with a partner or without. ‘Cause, women, we don’t need partners to… you know? Amen!”

Good for you, Demi, for being so open. Coming out is never easy, especially when it comes to the parents!
