Oprah Winfrey recently dropped out as an executive producer on a documentary about the sexual misconduct allegations against Russell Simmons.

Speaking to The New York Times, the media mogul said that Russell tried to convince her to back out of the film, On The Record.

Ultimately, Oprah did pull out of the film, but she cites it was because of creative differences with the filmmakers.

“He did reach out multiple times and attempted to pressure me,” she said. “I told him directly in a phone call that I will not be pressured either into, or out of, backing this film. I am only going to do what I believe to be the right thing.”

Soon after she left, Russell’s lawyer Thomasina Perkins-Washington said in a statement to People:

“If defending himself against terrible accusations is considered intimidation then there would be no justice,” referencing Oprah’s statement.

Well, whatever the real reason is for Oprah leaving, it doesn’t look good. We’ll let you know what happens.
