LOL! Matthew McConaughey Is Setting His Mom Up On a Date With Hugh Grant’s Dad

It’s like Millionaire Matchmaker, but with celebrities… well, celebrities’ parents!

Matthew McConaughey, who stars alongside Hugh Grant in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentleman, thought of a plan with his costar to set his mom Mary Kathlene McCabe up with Hugh’s dad James Grant.

Why not? They’re both single.

“His father’s 91, my mother’s 88,” Matthew told Entertainment Tonight. “Yeah, why not? Next week, they’re supposed to meet, and we probably won’t see them for the rest of the night.”

Hugh totally agreed, telling ET that their date will probably be “red hot.”

According to reports, the actors came up with the matchmaking idea during an interview with Mashable when Matthew was talking about his mother and their plans for Christmas.

“Would your 87-year-old mother like a nice 91-year-old Englishman?” Hugh first said, according to People. “She still married? Your dad still alive?”

“No, no, pop moved on in ’92,” Matthew replied. “And then her second man of 19 years just moved on two years ago, so she’s single and vital.”

“We should set this up!” Hugh responded.

The rest is history. We’re sure they had a swell old time!
