Zac Efron is Recovering Well After Getting Sick in Papua New Guinea

Zac Efron is finally feeling fine after a recent hospitalization in Papua New Guinea due to typhoid.

“Very thankful to everyone who has reached out. I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G,” he shared on social media. “I’m home for the holidays with my friends and family. Thanks for all the love and concern, see you in 2020!”

According to the Sunday Telegraph, Zac had contracted typhoid or a “similar bacterial infection” while filming his Quibi show, Killing Zac Efron.

Typhoid is caused by bacteria in contaminated water or food. Thankfully, antibiotics and vaccines can be used for treatment.

He was airlifted to Brisbane and taken to St. Andrews War Memorial Hospital in Spring Hill. We’re so happy he’s feeling better!
