Scarlett Johansson is still receiving backlash over comments she made this summer that actors should be able to play “any person, or any tree, or any animal.”

The statement came after Scarlett dropped out of a film where she was playing a transgender man, after getting criticism from the trans community.

Now, the actress is saying she regrets how it all went down.

“In hindsight, I mishandled that situation,” she recently told Vanity Fair. “I was not sensitive, my initial reaction to it. I wasn’t totally aware of how the trans community felt about those three actors playing – and how they felt in general about cis actors playing – transgender people. I wasn’t aware of that conversation – I was uneducated.”

She added that she “misjudged” the situation, saying, “It was a hard time. It was like a whirlwind. I felt terribly about it. To feel like you’re kind of tone-deaf to something is not a good feeling.”

Oy! Well to be honest, we don’t think this is going to harm her career.
