Ouch! ‘Jack Reacher’ Author Says Tom Cruise Is Too Old for Action Movies
Say what you want about Tom Cruise, but we all know he’s one of the sexiest movie stars to ever grace the screen.
However, if you ask Jack Reacher author Lee Child, Tom’s time has run out.
“Cruise was reluctant. He had his own investments in it, he was going to argue against it,” Lee told The Times about exercising his option as an author to end the film franchise after two installments. “It sounds extremely patronizing, but I think it’s good for him. He’s too old for this stuff.”
Lee added, “He’s 57, he needs to move on, transition to being a character actor. He could get another 20 years out of it. He is talented. He’s a terrific guy, very considerate, good fun.”
Of course, Tom starred in two Jack Reacher films: 2012’s Jack Reacher and 2016’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.
Last year, Lee announced that the franchise was ending and instead he was shifting to a TV reboot. Clearly he’s telling it like he means it when it comes to casting.
Still, we’re sure Tom is fine with it!
