Ryan Lochte Gets Emotional Talking About The 2016 Rio Olympics Incident

We never thought we’d be writing about this story again, but thanks to Alex Rodriguez’s new CNBC show, Back in the Game, the story of Ryan Lochte and the 2016 Summer Olympics is back.

Alex’s four-episode series follows him as he gives advice to athletes and entertainers who have fallen from grace in their respective careers.

Sounds kinda cool, right? Well recently, a clip of Ryan’s episode dropped and it has many of us feeling nostalgic.

“One mistake changed my entire life,” Ryan tells Alex. “I went from hero to zero. I’m just trying to fight my way back to the top again.”

In case you forgot… at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics, Ryan said he and three other members of the U.S. swim team were robbed at gunpoint at a Shell gas station.

However, police held a news conference a few days later and said the swimmers had actually vandalized the restroom in the service station.

The six-time Olympic gold medalist was eventually cleared of all charges, with the court deciding that Ryan hadn’t broken the law because Rio police instigated the investigation — not the swimmer.

Still, Ryan got a 10-month suspension from the sport after being charged with falsely communicating a crime.

Back in the Game will air Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST on CNBC.
