This is not a joke, y’all!

Nicki Minaj announced on Twitter that she’s retiring from the business to start a family.

“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now,” she wrote in a now deleted tweet. “To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me,  in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me.  Love you for LIFE ♥️.”

Of course, most of her fans thought it was all a joke. The announcement comes a few weeks after she announced she was getting married to Kenneth Petty.

According to TMZ, the rapper was “pushed over the edge” by always needing to defend herself over accusations of not writing her own songs and questions about her hip-hop legacy.

Hopefully this much-needed hiatus will be good for her!
