YouTube Starts Investigation Into Right-Wing Homophobe for Harassing Gay Journalist
YouTube is investigating right-wing vlogger Steven Crowder for harassing gay Vox Media journalist Carlos Maza after Carlos posted a tweet blasting YouTube for ignoring Steven’s years of targeted harassment.
Carlos’s tweets included a video compilation of Steven’s abuse in which he calls Carlos himself “a tranny.” He also says Carlos eats “a lot of d*cks” and “sashays to his next Pride parade.”
If you watched Carlos’s YouTube content, Steven’s insults have nothing to do with Carlos’s videos, which usually critique conservative media and social media abuse.
“Thanks so much for outlining all of this–we’re looking into it further,” YouTube responded. “Sending you a DM now.”
We’ll see what happens with the investigation.
So, I have pretty thick skin when it comes to online harassment, but something has been really bothering me.

Since I started working at Vox, Steven Crowder has been making video after video “debunking” Strikethrough. Every single video has included repeated, overt attacks on my sexual orientation and ethnicity. Here’s a sample: pic.twitter.com/UReCcQ2Elj

Last year, I got doxxed, and it scared the fuck out of me. My phone was bombarded with hundreds of texts at the exact same time. The messages? pic.twitter.com/ls4qBM9k08
