SHADE: ‘New York Times’ Was Disinvited To The Vanity Fair Oscars Party

Forget the Oscars ceremony, the real shade has to do with the after parties.

Apparently, Vanity Fair has disinvited the New York Times from its famed Oscar party last minute because the Times said rude things about it.

The paper ran a piece by Katherine Rosman and Brooks Barnes last week titled, “It Was the Hottest Oscar Night Party. What Happened?” suggesting the bash has been taken over by corporate sponsorship and rival parties. They also noted that “two civilians” had secured coveted invitations “in an online auction, bidding with customer-loyalty points from Marriott.”

According to Page Six, while Times correspondent Ben Widdicombe was flying in to cover the Sunday night party for his new “No Regrets” column, Vanity Fair rescinded his invitation, citing that it “feels like the Times has already run their coverage of the VF party this year.”

Still, folks at Times apparently think the new editor at Vanity Fair, former Times staffer Radhika Jones, should have the good sense to step in.

“It reflects so badly on Radhika that she would allow her publication to behave so unprofessionally and in such a unjournalistic manner,” a source said to Page Six.
