Successful women need successful men in their lives, am I right? Mary J. Blige certainly thinks so.

Apparently, the singer is on the lookout for a new man — only this time, she wants him to make more money than she does. 

Speaking to DJ Ace on BBC Radio 1Xtra this week, the queen of hip hop soul said she’s done with broke Joes: “He has to have more money than me, that’s for sure,” she said when asked about her ideal guy. “Because I’m not taking care of any more men!”

Mary was famously married to music producer Martin “Kendu” Isaacs for 12 years before splitting in 2016.

The former couple’s divorce took years to iron out and a judge decreed that the singer must pay her former husband spousal support in the sum of $30,000 a month. Their divorce was finalized in the spring of 2018.
