According to TMZ, Jussie Smollett might return to the Empire set earlier than we think. Jussie plays Jamal Lyon on the hit show, which is in its fifth season and returns to the air March 13.

Fox has not yet decided whether to suspend or fire Jussie after Chicago police confirm that he staged his own racist and homophobic attack, as well as sending himself hate mail.

He has a few more scenes to film and a source told Page Six, “It’s possible he could go back to set,” even though the actor faces a felony charge of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report claiming two men attacked him last month.

At a press conference Thursday, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson classified him as a “troubled young man” who has “taken advantage of the pain and anger of racism to further his career” by allegedly lying that he was attacked.
