Tilda Swinton Wore A Prosthetic Penis To Play An Old Man In New Film
Tilda Swinton goes deep for her roles.
Recently, it was revealed that in her new horror film, Suspiria, where she plays an 82-year-old man, she wore prosthetic male genitalia to get in the zone.
“The intention was never to fool anybody,” she said of the role. “The genius of [makeup artist] Marc Coulier notwithstanding, it was always our design that there would be something unresolved about the identity of the performance of Klemperer.”
Oscar-winning Coulier, however, added some interesting facts with The New York Times: “She did have us make a penis and b—,” he said. “She had this nice, weighty set of genitalia so that she could feel it dangling between her legs, and she managed to get it out on set on a couple of occasions.”
When asked where he thinks the genitalia is now, he replied, “Probably in a box somewhere! I should try and find it, and put it on a plaque on the wall of my workshop.”
