100 Pink Cadillacs Honored Aretha Franklin At Her Funeral

The world is still mourning over the loss of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. As she was laid to rest in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan, she was honored for more than six hours with 18 performers and over 15 speakers.

One hundred pink Cadillacs lined the street outside of Friday’s funeral service, which took place at Greater Grace Temple that seats 4,000 people. A red carpet was also laid out.

Aretha’s casket arrived at the ceremony around 8:30 a.m. ET, and was carried in by six men in suits. She was buried in a 24-karat gold plated Promethean casket made of solid bronze, and the interior is finished with champagne velvet.
