Renowned theater director Jerry Zaks is set to direct the Broadway-bound musical Mrs. Doubtfire, based on the 1993 comedy of the same name that starred the late, great Robin Williams. The film took home Golden Globe Awards for Robin (Best Actor in a Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy) and Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy.

The Tony-nominated creators of Something Rotten!, John O’Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick (book) and Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick (music and lyrics) are attached to write the show. The entire team is a shift from a 2015 announcement that the show will be written by Alan Menken, David Zippel, and Harvey Fierstein.

“Mrs. Doubtfire is such a beloved story, both laugh-out-loud hilarious and extremely moving. Getting this team together and crafting Mrs. Doubtfire for the stage has been pure joy. We can’t wait to get into production,” stated producers Kevin McCollum and Bob Cohen of Fox Stage Productions.
