Bethenny Frankel and Dennis Shields had a typical New York on-and-off relationship. But as it turns out, the businessman proposed to her before he was found dead in his Trump Tower apartment — believed to be an overdose of OxyContin.
“He proposed to her with a ring in April. She wasn’t wearing the ring,” a friend of Bethenny’s told People. “There were some hurdles to overcome before she could make that level of a commitment. She loved him. He’s her family and her best friend and her confidante. Her partner and her business partner.”
The friend added, “Very few people knew about the proposal. He’s proposed before — but never with a ring.”
