A Cat That Predicted Six World Cup Victories Is Now Dead — RIP

If you believe cats can predict the future, then you’re not the only one. One cat in particular who was nicknamed the “psychic” cat who predicted the outcomes of seven world cup victories gained worldwide fame — but unfortunately, Baidianr the cat is now dead.

The ginger cat with the white spot (Baidianr means “white spot”) has predicted six winners in the soccer competition, but this week representatives from Beijing’s Palace Museum (where the cat roamed) said he fell ill and died.

According to the Strait Times, museum staff would present the cat with two bowls of food, each with the national flag of one of the countries competing in the game. Whichever bowl Baidianr ate from first would represent its choice for winner. If the kitty picked correctly, it received a reward of dried fish.

It made six correct predictions in a row, ending on June 26 when it correctly opted for Argentina over Nigeria.
