Viola Davis is an icon, and the actress recently spoke up about the pay gap — particularly how it impacts black women.

“I have a career that’s probably comparable to Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Sigourney Weaver,” saying that the other women have had similar training and education. “They had the same path as me, and yet I am nowhere near them,” she said. “Not as far as money.”

Viola spoke at the Women in the World Salon in Los Angeles. She then added that’s she’s no longer “hustling for my worth. I’m worthy. When I came out of my mother’s womb, I came out worthy.”
