Jim Carrey Wants You To Delete Facebook, Here’s Why:
Jim Carey claims that Facebook users should delete their accounts in an effort to expose fake news.
The actor announced on Twitter that he’s dumping his Facebook stock and deleting his page because of how it profited from Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election by spreading false news with Russian origins. He also says Facebook isn’t doing enough.
Jim encouraged other investors to do the same, and hashtaged #UnfriendFacebook.
Facebook has not responded to Carrey’s tweet, but founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said stemming the flow of misinformation is among the company’s foremost goals.
