Elton John Is Honored By Harvard University For His HIV Activism

Elton John received an award at Harvard University with the Peer J. Gomes Humanitarian Award on Monday for his efforts to fight HIV and AIDS.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation has raised over $300 million for research on HIV since it was established in 1992.

The singer has been a staunch advocate since the 1980s when he met Ryan White, a teenager who became the poster child for HIV awareness during the height of the AIDS crisis.
