Lee Daniels Says His Dad Abused Him For Wearing High Heels
Creator of Empire, Lee Daniels, has always been one to be candid about his own experiences — and he draws on them to create his legendary works, including one scene from the show when Lucious Lyon is so angry to find his son Jamal wearing high heels that he throws his own son into the trash can.
Lee said to Page Six that his own father would beat him for wearing his mom’s high heels.
“No, it is not hard for me to put my personal business in the show. How can I not?” he said. “What you think, that I am making this s–t up? All of these stories are real — they are the foundation of the show.”
Empire returns Wednesday on Fox.
