Colin Firth Becomes Italian Citizen After ‘Disastrous’ Brexit Decision

The Brexit decision has certainly divided much of the opinions of British citizens, including Colin Firth, who has chosen to become an Italian citizen, calling it a “sensible” move in such a political climate.

He’s chosen dual citizenship (Britain and Italian), and is married to environmentalist Livia Giuggioli — who is also applying for British citizenship. Their two sons already have dual.

Before Brexit, Colin said he and his wife never thought much about dual citizenship, “but now, with some of the uncertainty around, we thought it sensible that we should all get the same.”

Colin has called the decision for Britain to leave the European Union a “disaster” in the past. He also said he “will always be extremely British” but also has “a passionate love of Italy.”
