Richard Branson Shows Wreckage of Private Island Due to Hurricane Irma
Billionaire Richard Branson is trying to help the victims of Hurricane Irma after its devastation nearly destroyed his private island as it went through the Caribbean. He announced in a blog post that he plans on returning to the British Virgin Islands to help rebuild.
“Much of the buildings and vegetation on Necker has been destroyed or badly damaged,” he wrote. “This story is about the tens of thousands of people who have lost their homes and their livelihoods. We have spent the past two days visiting team members who live on Virgin Gorda and as many people as possible, distributing aid, water and supplies.”
Via social media, he shared the devastating photos:
Necker damage huge, but BVI #Irma story is not about Necker – about 1000s of people who’ve lost homes & livelihoods https://t.co/0USuxvk1dS pic.twitter.com/BaUpvJ22pv
