Bill Murray Saw ‘Groundhog Day’ the Musical Two Nights in a Row (LOL, Get It?)

In a move that was pretty fitting for the 1993 film Groundhog Day, which centers around a guy who is repeating the same day over and over again, its original star Bill Murray went to see the musical — twice.

Bill went backstage a second time, undoubtedly telling jokes to the cast (“What a great show, did I see this once before?”)

He apparently told star Andy Karl: “I had some observations watching it again, and it’s really beautiful . . . As the product of the story turns to joy, the audience gets more and more excited. You have an unusual opportunity to do something that just really affects people. You’re killing ’em . . . You may quote me on that. I’m not much of a beer guy but I’m going to drink to that.”
