Backstage During Broadway’s Biggest Night!

Last night marked the 2017 Tony Awards, and although there were mixed reviews about the host Kevin Spacey, there were some pretty awesome backstage moments.

According to Billboard.com, the songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul said this about whether winning a Tony or an Oscar was better: (They won the Oscar for writing the lyrics to La La Land this year)

“This is sacred ground to us and nothing compares to it. We were musical theater majors!”

Although Bette Midler went a little long in her acceptance speech, she shared backstage as to how she prepared to play the role of Dolly Levi:

“I visited Carol Channing in Palm Desert, and her son, who had been a child at the time this show started. He had been on the road with her as a 10-year-old, he remembered so much of what went down.”
