‘Wonder Woman’ Is Killing It At The Box Office
Holy moly, Woman Woman is kicking some serious butt!
The numbers are in for the film’s opening weekend, and they are beyond impressive. After bringing in $100.5 million in North American and an additional $122.5 million internationally, director Patty Jenkins has set a new record for the biggest-ever opening weekend for a movie directed by a woman. How apropos!
The previous record was held by Sam Taylor-Johnson for Fifty Shades of Grey, which took in $81.7 million in the first weekend. Before that, the record holder was Catherine Hardwick for Twilight, which made $69.6 million in the first three days.
Wonder Woman was the most expensive female-directed movie ever, with a budget of $150 million. It is also only the 16th superhero film to break $100 million dollars domestically in the first weekend, and even beat out Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man.
You go, girls!
