Scott Pelley Is No Longer With ‘CBS Evening News’

Scott Pelley’s office was being cleared out this week while the anchor was on assignment for 60 Minutes, according to sources at Page Six.

Apparently he’s being shifted permanently to 60 Minutes because he and CBS News president David Rhodes “don’t get on.” A TV insider said their friction adds to the already existing low ratings Scott has been receiving for CBS Evening News.

“[Pelley] was pushed out of the ‘Evening News.’ It’s been coming for a long time,” a source said. “This could have been handled better — [Pelley] is away on a story, and they’re cleaning out his office. It’s not the correct way to treat the face of CBS News.”

Sources said the office was confused when they saw workers dismantling Scott’s office.

It’s also reported by Page Six that Anthony Mason, veteran CBS News staffer who serves as weekend anchor of CBS This Morning will take over Scott’s role on an interim basis, at least for the summer.
