Tiger Woods Says Alcohol Wasn’t Involved in His DUI Charge

Everyone was shocked when Tiger Woods was arrested on a DUI charge that landed him in a Florida jail yesterday.

Now he’s come out blaming an unexpected reaction to prescription medicine — not alcohol, like many outlets had reported. Tiger had back surgery a few weeks ago, which prompted him to have multiple prescription drugs available to him.

“I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions,” he said in a statement Monday evening. “I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly… I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.”

The pro golfer was arrested on Military Trail, and jail records show that he was booked at 7:18 am and released 10:50 am.

According to reports, a witness told the state trooper Tiger had been drinking alcohol earlier. They also said he’d been prescribed two drugs — Ambien (a sleeping aid) and the painkiller Vicodin.
