Though it’s been suspected for some time that Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are more than just friends, it looks like it’s finally official.

According to a report from People, the two made their first public appearance at the Cannes Film Festival this past week and were spotted looking cute and cozy together.

Joaquin was awarded Best Actor for his role in Lynne Ramsay’s You Were Never Really Here. In a press conference following the ceremony, he referred to Rooney as his girlfriend, officially letting the cat out of the bag. He told The Cut:

“Before I came here, I told my girlfriend it was going to be a really good experience because I was going to get crushed and that would be really humbling. I thought it would be great to know what it’s like to be unanimously disliked. That was my expectation coming here, so this is, um, better.”

Though they have been photographed together frequently since the filming of Mary Magdalene, this is the first time either has acknowledged their relationship. The happy couple was seen leaving the ceremony holding hands.

The actors first worked together in the 2013 Spike Jonze movie, Her, and are reportedly slated to co-star in the film, Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far On Foot.
