White House Excludes Gay ‘First Gentleman’ of Luxembourg From Photo Caption

On the White House’s Facebook page, the administration failed to acknowledge First Gentleman of Luxembourg Gauthier Destenay, who is married to Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.

The post featured a photo of the spouses of world leaders attending this week’s G7 summit.

The omission remained for at least six hours this weekend, reports Newsweek, until the Daily Beast editor Scott Bixby called it out on Twitter, writing: “Is there a reason the White House didn’t include the First Gentleman of Luxembourg in this photo caption? Like, a non-homophobic one?”

The White House hasn’t responded for comment yet.
