Jenny McCarthy Gushes About Donnie Wahlberg
Jenny McCarthy is counting her blessings these days, and Donnie Wahlberg is ranking high on the list.
The television host told Fox News that though she was prepared to handle motherhood on her own, she beyond grateful to have found her partner in life. She said:
“Donnie [Wahlberg] has been amazing. I thought for sure I would be going at it alone, like many parents who have kids with autism do, usually 80 percent of them [are] divorced. So the fact that I found the love of my life for me, and [my son] Evan found a stepdad in his life, I feel like I can’t ask for anything else.”
The actress was previously married to John Asher, and they share a son, Evan Joseph Asher, who is 15 years old. Evan was diagnosed with autism at the age of two.
Jenny feels like she now has everything she needs. She said:
“I don’t want anything else. God only gives you things you can handle and I got that. And I was blessed with the love of my life and my son getting better. I can do without asking for anything else.”
The 44-year-old is an advocate for raising awareness about autism. She said:
“I think so many of us want to judge the screaming toddler in the aisle at the grocery store or the screaming toddler at the restaurant or airplane. And with the rate of autism, which is insane, you never know why that child is screaming.”
Jenny wants people to understand the effects that judgment can have on the families of autistic children. She said:
“To put the blame on the parent and to judge that family — that hurts more than anyone could realize. If the child could understand a parent saying, ‘be quiet’ or ‘hush, we’re in a public place,’ they would. But they don’t understand what you’re saying. And a lot of times they’re in pain… Don’t rush to judgment.”
Jenny and Donnie began dating in 2013, and married in 2014.
While she’s found her soulmate, and is clearly loving being a mom, she doesn’t plan on a second round. She said:
“Hell no, this uterus is closed!”
