ISIS Claims Responsibility for Ariana Grande Concert Attack

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, according to the latest updates from the Associated Press.

U.S. officials have also told NBC News that evidence pointed to a backpack bomb worn by the suicide bomber.

There were 22 who died, one of them being an 8-year old girl named Saffie Roussos. A

P reports that medical officers say 12 children under the age of 16 were among those injured that night outside of Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester.

Another victim was 18-year old Georgina Callander, who died in the hospital with her mother by her side. Just hours before attending the concert, she wrote to Ariana personally on Twitter expressing how excited she was to see her.

Following the attack, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her conservative ally in Bavaria have called off a pre-election event at a beer tent in Munich. Pope Francis has also expressed dismay, citing the attack as barbaric. “God’s blessings of peace, healing and strength upon Britain,” he said.

Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron also stated, “It’s all of free Europe that was attacked, all of Europe’s youth that was attacked.” He and his cabinet will hold a defense meeting this week to address a task force against Islamic State extremists.
