Robert Wilson, the father to actors Luke and Owen Wilson, has passed away.

The TV executive, who went by Bob, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease on May 7 at age 75. Luke confirmed the sad news today to Dallas Morning News.

Back in the 1960’s, Bob was the president of public Dallas TV and radio stations,  KERA-TV and KERA-FM. In the 1970’s he co-created Newsroom with Jim Lehrer.

In addition to his sons Luke and Owen, Bob is survived by his son, Andrew Wilson, daughter Jade Wilson, wife Laura Wilson, and multiple grandchildren.

Luke told Dallas Morning News that anyone wishing to honor his father’s memory may do so by donating to PBS.
