Amy Schumer is becoming as known for her generosity as she is for her comedy.

The comedian drew a lot of attention recently after leaving a $1,000 gratuity on a $77 bar tab. Amy opened up to Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show this morning about why she leaves those famous giant tips. She said:

“I’m a good tipper. I worked in the service industry for 10 years.”

When Howard asked if her generosity was a result of “rich guilt, ” Amy shot that theory down. She said:

“I feel fine about having money. I take care of my family, my friends. I think I might feel guilty about having money if I wasn’t giving. It’s because it does make me feel great and I feel like I have no other choice.”

Amy also made recent headlines when she bought a $2,000 mattress for a store employee who allowed her to use the restroom. Amy told Howard:

“Other places were like ‘no. ’But this woman, she was just sweet. You know when you just see someone and you’re like ‘I just love you.’ I said ‘I’d like to buy it for you.’ She didn’t recognize me or anything. And then I saw that it became like news.”

The Snatched star hopes that others with the ability to will follow her example. She said:

“Are people with money not doing stuff like this? I think they should do more, because you’ll feel better. And then they’ll do that for someone else, you hope.”
