Get ready, folks, Shania Twain is making a comeback!

The Canadian singer appeared on The Voice on Monday as the first-ever fifth judge and an advisor to contestants. While on the show, Shania dropped some big news: she will release a brand new album this September.

The album, which marks her first in 15 years, will include the new single, “Life’s About to Get Good,” set to drop in June. According to Billboard, the star explained in a statement that while writing the song, “I was at home looking out at the ocean and I said to myself, ‘Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it’s so beautiful out. I’m not in the mood to write a ‘feeling-sorry-for-myself’ song … You can’t have the good without the bad. And that’s what the song ended up being about.”

This will be the first album produced without Shania’s ex-husband, John “Mutt” Lange. Shania and “Mutt” divorced after he had an affair with her best friend. She told the Los Angeles Times that her Las Vegas residency, “Still The One” gave her the courage to move on musically without her ex. She said:

“I learned a lot about myself, and my voice, both because I’d been having a lot of problems with my voice prior and because this was a real plunge into the unknown.”

She also decided that she needed to write all the songs to her next album by herself. She said:

“Right from the beginning, I was not going to collaborate with anybody for this one. This needed to be an independent experience. I hadn’t written by myself for a long time. I was married for 14 years to my collaborator, and I really just needed to do that again. I needed to go back and do that by myself and have an uninterrupted flow of creativity that was insular, to see what I was made of, to see what I have there.”

Her previous album, Up!, came out in 2002 and topped the Billboard 200 albums chart.

As her prepares for the release of her album, Shania will headline the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California on April 29, and plans to debut her single live at the fest.
