Madonna Also Had a Pepsi Ad That Was Pulled #TBT
Everyone’s talking about Kendal Jenner’s pulled Pepsi ad, which many said degraded protests and social movements in general.
But have we all forgotten that this isn’t Pepsi’s first pulled ad? Madonna certainly hasn’t!
The Queen of Pop starred in a Pepsi ad back in 1989, which she nostalgically shared on Instagram after posting a video of Kendell’s video.
“When you wake up and realize that shit just really doesn’t make sense!” she wrote. “Side note: my Pepsi commercial was pulled 30 years ago because I was kissing a black saint! #ironic”
And also, here is the video of her pulled Pepsi ad.
It was from the music video for “Like a Prayer,” which debuted after the commercial. The Vatican actually condemned it for its use of religious symbols, and religious groups threatened to boycott Pepsi afterward. Ultimately, Madonna lost her Pepsi contract.
Pepsi strikes again.
Clearly Madonna doesn’t give a f*ck anymore…
