Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but one thing is for sure- the guy doesn’t take the easy way out.

In order to make a plane crash sequence in The Mummy as authentic as possible, Tom opted out of the option of shooting it on a sound stage and instead insisted on filming the scene in zero gravity. The 54-year-old actor believes the audience deserves the most realistic movie-going experience possible.

This proved to be no small task. The filmmakers said at CinemaCon today that it ended up requiring a staggering 64 takes over the course of two days and four high-altitude flights. Writer and director Alec Kurtzman added, “There was a lot of barfing.”

Jake Johnson, another lead actor in the film, said Tom put pressure on the other actors to do their own stunts as well. He said, “We jump off buildings … and Tom really does it all,” adding, “I almost died.”

Tom is known for his extremely difficult stunts, having dangled from the Burj Khalifa in Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol , and clinging to a plane as it took off in Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation. The maneuver he does in the upcoming Mission Impossible 6 took a full year of training to execute, so we have no doubt that one will be amazing as well.

The Mummy will hit theaters on June 9, 2017.
