‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ Cast Reunited!

The cast of the iconic 90’s show had a reunion over the weekend, more than 20 years after the final episode aired, and took a photo that melted our hearts.
Alfonso Ribeiro, who played the famous dancing Carlton, posted the pic on Instagram on Monday. The heartwarming caption read, “Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family. Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete.” Take a look at the snapshot below:
As if anyone needs a reminder, the photo contains most of the Banks family members, from left to right: Tatyana Ali(Ashley), Alfonso Ribeiro(Carlton), Karyn Parsons(Hilary), Smith (Will), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Vivian, from ’93-’96), and Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey, the butler). Noticeably missing is James Avery, who played lovable Uncle Phil. James passed away in 2013.
With all the revival shows happening right now, like the Will & Grace reunion episodes and the Full House and Gilmore Girls reboots, many are wondering if the Fresh Prince cast will follow suit. The answer is, don’t get your hopes up. When promoting Suicide Squad last summer, Will Smith told E! News that a reunion would happen, “pretty close to when hell freezes over.” Well, that’s pretty clear! He explained:
“Since the passing of my favorite dad in the world, ever, on TV—James Avery passed—the chances of Fresh Prince coming back together will not happen. I don’t think we feel as a cast that we would do even our fans justice. We all felt like he was the centerpiece or the nucleus of that show. Without him, it just doesn’t work.” He added, “We’re not looking for that to happen. And that’s O.K.”
Well, that’s a bummer. But at least you’ve got that great theme song stuck in your head all day!
