Fox is currently developing a musical film inspired by the childhood of superstar, Pharrell Williams. Atlantis, described by The Hollywood Reporter as a “Romeo & Juliet-style love story with a music element,” will focus on Pharrell’s upbringing in Virginia Beach, and may include his partnership with Neptune’s partner Chad Hugo. The two met at summer camp and went on to form a teen band. When they were discovered at their high school talent show, Pharrell’s career took flight.

Broadway director, Michael Mayer and writer Martin Hynes are attached. Pharrell with produce alongside Hidden Figures‘ Mimi Valdes and Life of Pi‘s Gil Netter. Pharrell also wrote the original songs for the film.
